Jim Berg's state legislative papers contain the records from his campaigns as well as papers from his terms in the 53rd N.D. House of Representatives and the 55th N.D. Senate. The papers consist largely of correspondence and files pertaining to the issues he was most concerned with, especially youth services. There are extensive files on the Budget Committee on Youth Services on which he served in 1993-1994.

James Berg was born in 1930 at Bisbee, N.D. After serving in the Korean War he completed an M.S. degree at NDSU in agricultural economics. He was a county extension agent in Ramsey and Kidder counties of N.D. before be began working in the agricultural communications department at NDSU in 1962.
